Accepting select engagements for Q3 / Q4 2026

Big-tech product firepower.
Without the big-tech price tag.

From a product management intern to senior product leadership across multiple publicly traded, global companies — and now a strategic advisor to private equity firms, founders, and leaders at every level. On the front lines the whole way, I've designed and rolled out the solutions that scaled to support $20B+/month in transaction volume.

I build the systems
that win markets.

I'm a product leader who has scaled real platforms from early stage to massive outcomes — leading AI-driven lead routing at Zillow and designing the next-generation origination platform that let loanDepot surpass $20B/month in funding and supported its path to IPO.

Today I work with a small number of high-caliber clients across fintech, AI, healthcare, automotive, IoT, and energy — founders building category-defining products, private equity firms on the product side of deals (diligence, value creation, and exit), and growth teams installing a real product function. I bring an operator's hands and an investor's eye to every engagement.

What I Deliver

Two core strengths. Four ways to engage.

M&A product advisory across the deal lifecycle and product-operating-system builds are where I go deepest. AI product strategy and new-venture work flow from those same muscles.

PE & M&A Advisory

Product, platform, and architecture work across the full deal lifecycle — buy-side diligence, hold-period value creation, and sell-side / exit readiness.

To the architecture — not just the deck.

Product Operating System

Fractional & interim product leadership. OKRs, prioritization, org design, and hiring for teams with engineers but no product function.

Vision down to scrum-team execution.

AI Product Strategy

Vision, roadmapping, and AI integration that moves metrics — lead routing, decisioning, and AI-native workflows. Not hype.

New Venture & Operator Builds

0→1 strategy, financial models, and GTM for new ventures and tech-enabled business models — including productizing institutional-grade frameworks into self-serve tools.

Validated, viable, ready to ship.
Flagship Practice  •  Franchise Diligence

Buyer-side franchise diligence, run on our own engine.

Every franchise buyer in America is surrounded by sellers — brokers, sales orgs, and portals, all franchisor-paid. We sit on the one side of the table nobody else does: yours.

75+
brands fully analyzed — every number from the actual FDD, published openly on the Franchise Edge engine.
116
FDDs tracked across 11 categories, growing weekly.
1 source
primary data. Franchisor and broker claims get reconciled against government registries and the FDD itself — and graded when they don't match.
How Engagements Run

Self-serve ($199): a full single-brand diligence report from the engine, in minutes.

Bespoke (from $2,000): your brand, your market, your model — territory validation against primary data, a corrected financial model built on evidence instead of the franchisor's template, and a written, priced ask list before you sign. Every tier credits 100% toward the next.

Recent Engagement  •  Anonymized

A buyer five days from a signing deadline "couldn't make the numbers work." We rebuilt the model from the validated ramp, priced his territories against government aircraft-registry data, and found one territory potentially better than anyone had told him — and one that couldn't clear the franchisor's own royalty floor. He walked into the deadline holding written asks instead of a feeling.

The Independence Creed

JMW takes no franchisor money — no referral fees, no placement commissions, no shelf economics — in its diligence practice. We are paid by buyers alone and hold no position in whether any deal closes. Where a JMW principal has operator history inside a franchise system under review, that history is disclosed to the client before engagement — it's how we know where the numbers hide, and you'll hear it from us first.

Software We Build

Bespoke AI products — designed, shipped, and proven in the field.

Most consultants hand you a roadmap. We hand you working software with users on it. Two live products, one discipline: honest AI that says what it knows, cites its source, and flags what it can't answer — never guesses.

Wattson

Live · Field UAT
Field AI for Electrical Contractors

An electrician uploads the drawing set they already have, asks a question in plain language, and gets an answer with the source sheet and a confidence level. Anything the tool can't read or can't answer confidently is flagged plainly — never guessed. In production with working crews: mobile field-UX shipped, query logging live, and a phase-2 redesign proven on staging before it ever touches the users' stable build.

Built for a regional electrical contractor

Franchise Edge

Live · In Production
The FDD Diligence Engine

An analysis engine that reads a Franchise Disclosure Document end to end — fee stacks, Item 19 earnings cohorts, territory mechanics, risk flags, financial condition — and publishes buyer-side diligence at scale. 75+ brands live, self-serve reports selling in production, and the same engine powers every bespoke JMW franchise engagement. We built it because the tool we needed didn't exist.

How We Ship

Smallest version that delivers real value → live users → staged rollouts, with the ambitious rewrite proven on staging — never on your users.

How We Scope

A living scope document tracks what the product does, doesn't do, and every capability decision — clients see the punchlist, not a black box.

What It Costs

A fraction of an agency build, because the product thinking and the engineering judgment come from the same operator.

Selected Engagements

Real problems. Structured solutions.

Healthcare  •  Product Org

Installing the product operating system

A fast-scaling public-health-tech company had inconsistent roadmapping, no shared metrics, and no head of product. I designed the operating system end to end — an OKR/KPI framework, standardized agile and prioritization, the right tooling, and an org-and-hiring plan including a dedicated Head of Product — serving as interim Chief Product Officer across 12 product managers while the system took hold.

Healthcare / Aesthetics  •  Market & Roadmap

MedSpa market analysis & roadmap

A leading medical-aesthetics software provider faced a crowded market and a freshly acquired product to integrate. Over a two-month research engagement, I defined the real market needs, validated which of the two platform architectures to build on, and delivered a roadmap covering pricing, tiering, and a path off legacy desktop installs.

IoT / Construction  •  Product & Platform

Telematics product & platform strategy

An early-stage telematics startup had strong technology but no product org and scaling-limited infrastructure. I assessed market, product, roadmap, org, and platform — recommending OEM-agnostic positioning, a dynamic prioritization framework, a combined software/hardware product org, and a cloud-ready architecture (multi-tenancy, containerization, services) with quality-engineering and security remediation.

Automotive  •  Buy-Side M&A

Recon portfolio consolidation

An automotive-tech acquirer had bought two vehicle-reconstruction companies with overlapping products and needed to decide which platform to build on. I evaluated both across product, market, financials, and architecture, selected the go-forward platform, designed a phased consolidation, and mapped how to fold in the second company's strengths while mitigating migration and retention risk.

Sports & Recreation  •  New Venture (Co-Founder)

A tech-enabled, autonomous golf franchise

Co-created a multi-location, tech-enabled golf franchise with Sutra Ventures — financial modeling, work-stream design, data-driven site selection, GTM, and orchestration of 10+ software, hardware, and real-estate vendors into one automated operating model. This operator history is disclosed in any diligence engagement touching that franchise system — you'll hear it from us first.

Franchise / Fintech-Grade Diligence  •  Founder

Franchise Edge — institutional diligence, productized and live

Born out of the golf-franchise build, I took the buy-side diligence frameworks I use for PE clients and productized them into a live engine: FDD parsing at scale, unit-economics modeling, territory validation against primary data, and red-flag screening — Wall-Street-grade rigor, now selling self-serve reports in production and powering the Franchise Diligence practice. engine.foundersplinko.com →

Installing a real product function — the operating system, not just headcount.

I take on a small number of engagements each quarter to stay hands-on.

Not Slide Decks. Executable Systems.
